At Sit Happens, we don’t just babysit — we champion safe, fun and empowering spaces for children who are part of our Sit Legends community. Child safety and wellbeing sit front and centre in everything we do, from in-home sits and group sessions to pop-up Kids Zones and local business collabs.

Our Commitment

We’re committed to:

• Creating environments where every child feels seen, heard and safe.

• Hiring, training and supporting our Sit Legends so they can bring their A-game (and protect children) in equal measure.

• Working side-by-side with families, local partners (cafés, swim schools, libraries, toy-libraries) and the wider community so that safety is a shared mission.

• Ensuring that all children — regardless of culture, ability, gender, identity or background — have a place here with us.

• Building transparency: policies, reporting, training, reviews — you’ll see them. We’ll share them. We’ll live them.

What That Looks Like for You

• Every Sit Legend holds a valid Working With Children Check (VIC) and has completed our signature training in boundaries, recognition of harm, safe digital practice, and inclusive care.

• Our Code of Conduct sets clear expectations: respect, professionalism, no private DMs, no ambiguous situations.

• Safe operations across all our sits:

  • In-home: clear bathroom/boundary protocols, approved transportation only.

  • Group sits & Kids Zones: strict sign-in/out, visible supervision, full risk assessments.

  • Digital & events: consent for photos/video, safe online communications, vetted venues.

• Children and families are empowered to speak up, ask questions and raise concerns — and we listen. If something feels “off” or “yucky”, we act fast.

Your Role — Family + Community

We’re in this together. Here’s how you can help:

• Share how your child feels safe, what their comfort zones are, and any cultural or individual needs.

• Talk with your child about their rights: to feel safe, to ask questions, to say “no thank you”, to tell a Sit Legend if something doesn’t feel okay.

• Keep communication open — between you, your child and our team.

• Partner with us in building safe spaces across local collabs: libraries, cafés, toy-libraries, swim schools.

Speak Up, Stay Safe

If your child, you or someone you know ever feels unsafe, here’s what to do:

1. Tell a Sit Legend right away.

2. Contact us via our Sit Happens Hotline or complete our web form.

3. We’ll respond within 24-48 hours. If there is immediate danger, call 000.

4. We document, investigate and act, prioritising child wellbeing at all times.
